EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

POSITION:                 Communications Specialist
DEPARTMENT:         Communications Center

SALARY:                     $14.22 per hour

                                     Level 7

                                     

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

High school graduate or equivalent with three (3) years experience with fire and security alarm systems, emergency dispatching for fire, rescue, medical or police operations; or an equivalent combination of closely related training and experience.  Must be able to remain calm in emergency and stressful situations, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while under pressure, must possess a clear speaking voice and be an effective communicator.  Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and understand techniques of telephone interrogation.  Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.  Must pass 25 CWPM typing test, and possess the ability to input information accurately into a computer and utilize computerized information systems.  Will be required to obtain the Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.   Florida driver’s license required. 

 

Duties include monitoring and operating communication equipment for fire and security alarms, surveillance and terminal paging systems and airport security cameras.  Dispatches Emergency Services personnel to emergency and non-emergency situations including Aircraft emergencies.
