Full time highly responsible managerial & administrative work directing the activities, functions and personnel of the Information Technology Unit, Radio Repair/Fleet Maintenance Unit & False Alarm Reduction Unit.  Requires extensive knowledge of office, cellular & 911 telephone systems, alpha-numeric & test paging systems, radio system, 911 infrastructure & fleet maintenance repair.  BA/BS or any combination of education & experience, mid-upper lever management exp in large or multi-jurisdictional agency.  Exp w/computer aided dispatching systems, digital telephone systems, enhanced 911 systems 7 and public safety radio systems preferred.  Successfully pass background investigation w/drug test & polygraph. 

Starting Salary: $55,104/yr

Job Title:                        Emergency Communications Specialists

Salary Specifications:                
Starting Salary:                        $11.81 per hour /
Grade:                                S19



Nature of Work:
Emergency 9-1-1 and dispatch work for the Orlando Police Department. Involves the ability to operate computers, radio consoles and multi-line telephones.  Possess excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.  Must be able to deal with stressful emergency situations. Promotion upon completion of training.

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduate plus one (1) year clerical, customer service, or dispatch experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Applicants must type 25 CWPM and pass a Public Safety Telecommunicators test. Must also pass Police Background Check, Polygraph and Medical Test.
